With announcements by PDC and Anadarko of 2018 expenditures to expand operations in the area, Broomfield residents and neighboring communities need to stay on alert.

PDC Energy Inc. says it plans to spend $480 million next year on oil and gas development in the area between Denver and Greeley.”

“The Wattenberg Field includes parts of Denver, Adams, Broomfield, Boulder and Weld counties. Most of PDC’s Wattenberg operations are in Weld County near Greeley.”

“In 2018, PDC said it plans to “spud” — or begin to drill — about 131 new wells in the Wattenberg, using three drilling rigs, and to begin producing gas and oil at 139 wells in the area.”

“Anadarko Petroleum Corp. last month said it plans to invest about $950 million into its operations next year in the D-J Basin.”
