The article reports on VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions violations by Extraction in Weld County in 2015 and the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
Since VOCs can cause breathing problems and cancer, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Comprehensive Plan Update Committee addressed them extensively in the Chapter that was adopted. Also, the proposed amended Extraction MOU addresses minimization of emissions.
