“Judge rules part of Thornton’s oil and gas regs violates state, federal law” Denver Business Journal

By Cathy Proctor, Denver Business Journal 4/25

The article covers yesterday’s ruling by an Adams County District Judge that Thorton’s 750-foot setback and gathering line regulations violate state and federal law.

It should be noted that Thorton has not passed anything similar to Broomfield Charter Amendment 301. With the passage of 301 on Nov. 7 by 57% in favor, the Charter now reads,”Broomfield shall condition oil and gas development permits to require oil and gas development to only occur in a manner that does not adversely impact the health, safety, and welfare of Broomfield’s residents in their workplaces, their homes, their schools, and public parks in order to protect the public’s health, safety, and welfare and to safeguard the environment and wildlife resources.”
