A workover rig is now onsite in Anthem Highlands to fix the Davis 43-6 well, a faulty plugged and abandoned well that has been excavated under Graham Peak Way as part of the the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission’s orphan well program. The methane leak was discovered in June when elevated readings were found during routine soil gas measurements by the City and County of Broomfield (CCOB).
According to CCOB’s announcement, “the rig will be used to drill down approximately 2,500 feet through cement plugs at various intervals inside the well to replug and cement the well at various intervals back up to the top of the well casing.” The repairs should take about two weeks. Please read further background information in our blog here.
